Walking the Cliffs of Son Bou

Menorca is the least visited and most unspoilt of all the Balearic Islands, and Son Bou on the south coast is the perfect destination in which to organise a walking holiday. Most villas are located in the two hillside zones of San Jamie and Torre Soli Nou, and are an ideal base from which to explore the island by foot.

Both resorts are in pretty areas of pine woodland with picturesque views of the sea and the Menorcan countryside, and although the stunning coves and deserted beaches near your Son Bou villas provide a stunning backdrop to your walk, they are not the types of only landscape on your horizon. Within an easy walk is the hilltop site of Torre d’en Galmés, the remains of an ancient Menorcan settlement.

A highlight of any Son Bou holiday is experiencing the rich history of the island. Turn any corner on a walk around Son Bou and you are likely to come face to face with a huge Megalith. These Stone Age monuments are similar to Stonehenge and bronze remains of ancient Egyptian gods have even been discovered in the area. There are also a number of cliff-top cave houses that are remnants of the island’s earliest inhabitants, and at one end of the beach is a fort that dates back to the Iron Age.
